Concentrations for the Urban Studies Major

There are 3 concentrations available within the Urban Studies Program: (1) Urban Planning and Administration; (2) Urban Policy and Social Problems; and (3) Sustainable Urbanism.  In the Urban Planning and Administration track, students will learn how to carry out urban and community planning and they will learn about municipal administration, ethics, and other related subject matters. In the Urban Policy and Social Problems track, students will learn about historical and contemporary urban policies and social issues. The Sustainable Urbanism concentration provided focused study on the role of urban places in culture in fostering sustainable and resilient societies in the 21st Century.

In addition to choosing a concentration, all Urban Studies majors are encouraged to choose a Disciplinary Area by double majoring or choosing a minor in one of the many majors that are related to urban issues, including, but not limited to, business administration, economics, history, sociology, political science, and historic preservation and community planning.
